NUVIPREG is a range of UV curable resin impregnated fibreglass prepregs, which have been especially designed to cure from a wet plyable form to a completely hard product within minutes simply through exposure to UV (either outdoors sunlight or high intensity artificial light). NUVIPREG materials do not require heat or any other chemicals to cure.
The product is supplied as either Vinyl Ester or Polyester resin already impregnated into the fibre glass which simply cures and hardens once exposed to light. Once hardened and "cured", NUVIPREG material forms an impenetrable completely hardened structure with no additional post curing required. The technology is highly effective in creating and manufacturing glass reinforced plastic (GRP) products in place of traditional hand lay up manufacturing, infusion systems, and oven cure methodologies. NUVIPREG has proven to be a cost effective long term structural solution for the repair to a whole range of surfaces and parts including wood, bitumen, concrete and metals without the need for costly replacement.
The technology was developed specifically to enable companies to make products using composites faster, easier, lighter, safer, more cost effectively, and more importantly, with less waste.
The prepregs cure in a matter of minutes per layer, using natural sunlight (or under standard factory lighting) and can be cured in a matter of minutes per layer in a one-step process, for thicker and stronger parts. Secondly, state of the art, custom designed equipment is used to manufacture and accurately apply resin to fibreglass to an exact amount which guarantees product consistency. The exact application of resin to glass is precisely deposited and electronically gauged to the desired finished weight of a given product. NUVIPREG are designed to be used using vacuum bag UV curing ("VBUVC"), a system based on standard vacuum bagging techniques but simplified so that no bleeder or breather cloths are required. Once under vacuum, the part is then exposed to UV lights. Mixing of resins, catalysts or hardeners are not required.
The prepregs require no refrigeration and remain usable at room temperature for more than 6 months. By utilizing our rapid light-curing prepreg technology with flame-resistant properties, we have succeeded in delivering a more economical, easier-to-handle, and time-saving option that will likely be of great interest to the global composites industry.
All polyester and vinyl ester resin formulations are produced in house to the highest quality standards. All types of glass substrates are available such as E Glass, S Glass and C glass in all types of weaves including; plain weaves, satins, twills, crows feet, single bias, double bias, Quadraxial, Chop Strand Mat, Woven roving, and many more.
